Industry Engagement

Texas MBA Fund students engage with the investment industry throughout the program, through Semiannual Advisor Meetings, guest speakers and practitioner sessions, the Houston Trek, structured mentorship from Investment Counselors, and the Shad Rowe Stock Pitch Competition.

Semiannual Advisor Meeting

Twice each year, Texas MBA Fund students present investment research, portfolio decisions, and their broader investment process to experienced investment professionals. The meeting gives students direct exposure to the questioning, scrutiny, and defense of investment decisions encountered in professional investment organizations.

Shad Rowe Stock Pitch Competition

Held each fall at Rowling Hall, the Shad Rowe Stock Pitch Competition is a one-day equity pitch tournament open to McCombs undergraduate and MBA students. Teams present a single investment recommendation to judges drawn from the asset management industry, defending their research and valuation under professional questioning.

Employer and Alumni Engagement

Throughout the program, members interact with investment-management firms, alumni, recruiters, portfolio managers, analysts, and other investment professionals, extending industry engagement well beyond the classroom.

The Texas MBA Fund is an educational investment program for full-time MBA students, supported by Texas McCombs Investment Advisers LLC. Students lead the investment research and recommendation process within established investment-policy guidelines. TMIA, acting through its faculty managers, holds investment-decision authority and remains responsible for compliance with the applicable client mandate and legal and regulatory requirements.
